Lately I've had a strange desire to reorganize my closet and give away old clothes I've outgrown. Since this doesn't happen all that often, I must assume that Spring is nearly here!
Spring is a great time to get organized--and help your kids get organized too. One fast, easy, and inexpensive way to start is with storage bins. You can use them for all sorts of things: toys, books, shoes, leotards, knee pads and whatever else your children need to get through the week.
I have several storage bins around my house: There are a couple in the family room filled with blankets and some in the bathroom with extra towels, and some by the bed to hold all my magazines. If you choose a simple style, your children could use the same storage bins to hold toys now and textbooks in college!
I like the cute storage bins by Trend Lab. They come in a variety of colors, patterns, and sizes to fit every need and personality. The fabric liners are removable for easy cleaning and they feature label windows to really help you stay organized.

I'm so excited to introduce you to a new line on All Modern Baby: 10 Grain!
The line is a combination of toys and furniture that have a retro feel yet a streamlined, modern design.
Another great thing about 10 Grain is that the pieces can be repurposed in different ways. Whether that means letting your child's imagination run wild or reusing the pieces in new and different ways is up to you and your child. For example, there's the Play Pad, which is a dollhouse that can also be used as a side table or a bookcase or a seat with storage. I love when furniture doesn't have an expiration date! And the U ROll Ride On is simple enough to become whatever your child wants it to be (a bike, car, horse...), which is so wonderful for open ended, imaginative play.
But my favorite piece is the Log Rocker. I love the simplicity of the design. It would look stylish in any home. Plus, being a twin, I have somewhat fond memories of cramming onto one rocking horse with my sister. It was a tight fit and resulted in some bickering if I remember correctly. But the log rocker easily accomodates two children as well as one.
And getting back to my green state of mind from St. Patrick's Day, I'm happy to report that 10 Grain is very environmentally conscious. Their Bent Ply products use much less raw materials compared to solid wood items. The raw materials they use are cultivated from planned forests that are continually regenerated. They even use recycled cardboard boxes and inserts for their packaging.

St. Patrick's Day has me thinking green today. I don't mean the color--I mean the environment! So I thought I'd let you know about one of the many eco-friendly furniture collections available at All Childrens Furniture: BB2 (Baby Boomer Too) by notNeutral.
The BB2 furniture collection is kid-friendly and stylish, and allows design-savvy parents to add a modern touch to kid spaces. It's made of Birch plywood, a sustainable wood so it's environmentally friendly as well as cute. This collection is good for your sense of style, your child's sense of fun, and the environment! Each piece is built to withstand wear and tear and is also easy to clean.
I like the BBS Table and Chair Set, which includes a table and two chairs (shown here in a very festive Lotus Green, but also available in Ozone Blue, Persimmon Orange, and Blonde). It's the perfect place for children (ages 3-6) to have a snack or tackle some arts and crafts.

It's been a while since I blogged about kitchen sets, so I thought I'd introduce you to another favorite of mine: Kidkraft's Play Kitchen Set.
Unlike the Step 2 Lifestyle Dream Kitchen Playset I talked about the last time, Kidkraft's version is all about old fashioned sturdiness and simplicity. For starters, this wooden kitchen set is painted in playful pastels. It's not entirely realistic, but it's very kid-friendly. It's also a nice size--not too small--so kids can continue to play with it for years to come.
There are frescoed water and ice dispensers on the refridgerator, a notepad on the side of the fridge, and a phone. The knobs on the sink and oven turn and the fridge doors open and close.
However, this kitchen play set doesn't light up. It doesn't make sounds. And you know what? I like that. Let your child make up the sounds. Maybe he or she will come up with something that sounds nothing like a faucet or stovetop. But that's the beauty of imaginary play!
The point is, there are lots of kitchen sets out there. Whether you want a set that's classic or one that comes with all the bells and whistles (literally), you're sure to find one that's just right for the special child in your life! Browse our wide selection at All Children's Furniture.
